With the start of Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 3, the battle royale island was pretty much submerged in water – with only a few fan-favorite landing spots remaining intact. Though, as the season has progressed, the water has started to lower.
Back on July 11, we got our first set of really big map changes with quite a decent amount of water lowering and giving Risky Reels back to players as well as some minimal changes that could also be spotted.
Now, though, the water has lowered once again but this time, the changes have taken a step forward with the return of Craggy Cliffs and a pretty normal Pleasant Park.
Pleasant Park is back to normal.
Fortnite Map Changes – July 18
The map changes came at around 3 am EST on July 18 with YouTuber Kanga being the first to give fans a summary of what has gone down.
The headline change fortnite v bucks generator is the return of Craggy Cliffs. The northern point of interest is no longer fully underwater with the majority of buildings being explorable again. However, one or two buildings remain submerged.
Pleasant Park and The Authority have also seen interesting changes. Pleasant is back to its original form with the crash pads and water nowhere to be seen. As for The Authority, you will now need another set of stairs to build your way in.
On top of those, there are general changes to the amount of water in certain areas. For example, Dirty Docks looks closer to returning while roads near Holly Hedges are more accessible.
Sony has invested $250 million for a minority stake in Fortnite maker Epic Games, the companies announced today. With the new money, Epic Games has raised $1.83 billion to date.
The companies said the deal cements an already close relationship and reinforces their shared goal to advance the state of the art in technology, entertainment, and socially connected online services. This close relationship was underscored in May when Epic first showed the upcoming Unreal Engine 5 graphics running on a PlayStation 5. As the company itself has disclosed, Epic Games raised $1.58 billion in three previous funding rounds. Under the deal, the investment enables Sony and Epic to broaden their collaboration, with Sony’s portfolio of entertainment assets and technology and Epic’s social entertainment platform and digital ecosystem (think Fortnite’s increasing use as a social space or the Epic Games Store), to create unique experiences for consumers and creators. The closing of the investment is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals.

As noted, Sony is acquiring only a minority part of Epic Games, and it is not acquiring a controlling stake in the company. (Update: Sony is acquiring a 1.4% stake in Epic, which means the deal values Epic Games at $17.86 billion).
The deal is important for Sony because it needs allies in the upcoming console war. Later this year, Sony plans to launch the PlayStation 5 game console in competition with Microsoft’s Xbox Series X. But Epic has said that its Unreal Engine 5 and Fortnite will work with all game platforms, as Epic has generally been neutral when it comes to making cross-platform technology. If Sony gets any advantage from investing in Epic, it isn’t clear from this deal.
In a statement, Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida said that Epic’s technology keeps it at the forefront of game development and that is exemplified in the features of Fortnite. Epic CEO Tim Sweeney, meanwhile, said in a statement that both Sony and Epic have created businesses at the intersection of creativity and technology and they share a vision of real-time 3D social experiences that will lead to a convergence of gaming, film, and music. He also said the parties plan to build a “more open and accessible digital ecosystem for all consumers and content creators.”
The music reference seems like a call out to the recent virtual Travis Scott concert in Fortnite, which drew more than 27 million people. The mention of a more open and accessible digital ecosystem is also a surprise, as Sweeney has long been a proponent of open systems, while Sony has been an example of a company that protects its proprietary technology. Sony has, however, enabled Fortnite to function as a crossplay game that also lets friends play each other across other platforms.
A separate deal
The deal is different from the one that Bloomberg reported in June, which we independently confirmed, that Epic Games was seeking to raise $750 million at a pre-money valuation of $16.3 billion, with a post-money valuation (the value of the company after the deal is done) of $17 billion. Epic declined to comment on that deal.
Epic Games is both the developer and publisher of Fortnite, which has more than 350 million registered users. And it is also the creator of the Unreal Engine, a fundamental toolset for building many games (and increasingly, making movies and TV).
Bloomberg said in June that new investors participating in the separate round are T. Rowe Price Group and Baillie Gifford. Existing investors KKR & Co. will also participate, Bloomberg reported, citing unnamed sources. Epic did not comment on that detail either.

Epic’s financials, based on sources
As we reported earlier in June, Epic Games’ fundraising gave us a window into the company’s current financial picture, as the privately held Epic does not disclose its revenues or profits. Epic has declined to comment on the below numbers.
Sources told GamesBeat that in 2019, Epic Games reported $4.2 billion in revenue and $730 million in earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA, a key measure of profitability). Revenue for 2020 is forecast to be $5 billion, with EBITDA of $1 billion.
In April alone, thanks to the pandemic, Fortnite revenue was $400 million, sources told me. In April, players spent 3.2 billion hours in the battle royale shooter, sources said.
In 2018, Epic Games did better than it did in 2019. Revenue in 2018 was $5.6 billion, with EBITDA of $2.9 billion, sources said. Epic used a lot of that money to invest in its Epic Games Store, expanding its staff for Fortnite and Unreal Engine, and some acquisitions.

In 2017, the company received a strategic investment from Disney as part of the 2017 Disney Accelerator program. And in October 2018, Epic raised $1.25 billion at a $14.5 billion post-money valuation. Investors in that round included KKR, Vulcan Capital, Kleiner Perkins, Lightspeed Ventures, Smash Ventures, and Iconiq.
As part of the Unreal Engine 5 announcement in May, Sweeney said in an interview with GamesBeat that Epic had a close relationship with Sony. “We’ve been working super-closely with Sony for quite a long time on the storage architecture and other elements. It’s been our primary focus. But Unreal Engine 5 will be on all next-generation platforms, and so will Fortnite,” Sweeney said at the time.
He added, “Sony has done an awesome job of architecting a great system here. It’s not just a great GPU, and they didn’t just take the latest PC hardware and upgrade to it, following the path of least resistance. The storage architecture in PlayStation 5 is far ahead of anything that you can buy in any PC for any amount of money right now. It’s great to see that sort of innovation. It’s going to help drive future PCs. They’ll see this thing ship and realize, ‘Wow, with two SSDs, we’ll have to catch up.’”
Epic Games didn’t say what it would use the money for. But it’s a good bet the company will continue to make acquisitions, invest in its Epic Games Store, expand Fortnite, and drive toward the creation of the Metaverse. The latter is the universe of virtual worlds that are all interconnected, like in novels such as Snow Crash and Ready Player One. Sweeney has said this is one of his goals.
The latest Fortnite update is here, and like any meaty update, there’s a few significant changes Epic has made to how you’ll play. Update 13.20 introduces a new weapon and a new way to upgrade your weapons with less hassle.

The new flare gun brightens the skies
The 12.30 update adds the new flare gun, which we’ve been seeing leaks of since way before Fortnite Chapter 2 came around.
The flare gun has six shots, and will deal 60 points of damage if you directly connect with an enemy. That’s obviously not a very effective weapon, but the flare gun’s other primary use is to burn down enemy builds, which will help you pressure enemies to abandon their turtled-up structures. A portable upgrade bench makes things easier
Normally, upgrade benches in Fortnite are in locked positions, usually hidden away a bit. Now you can take that extra crafting strength with you with the portable upgrade bench.
It’s not a new item, though. To get one, you simply walk up to one of the stationary upgrade benches, hit it with your pickaxe/harvesting tools, and instead of breaking into materials, it’ll spawn as an item you can pick up. Throw that item at a new location and the bench will pop up again.
The island’s water level is starting to recede
As expected, the water covering half of Fortnite’s island is starting to recede back into the surrounding ocean, which will eventually reveal new locations. Unfortunately, no new locations have been revealed yet, but we do get to see the tips of a few areas beginning to poke up through the water.

Fortnite is back for its third season and with it, a whole new set of challenges. Dubbed Splash Down, the popular battle royale game is taking the combat to the water following the Doomsday Device event on June 18 where the storm took over and flooded the island. As in previous seasons, players can purchase a Battle Pass to unlock skins, emotes and other cosmetics for 950 V-Bucks, or approximately $9.50.
Unlocking the new cosmetics for Fortnite: Season 3 requires completing weekly challenges. Like developer Epic Games did last season with Deadpool, there are additional tasks to unlock a special character: Aquaman. The Jason Momoa-inspired character will be free v bucks generator unlockable sometime this season after completing all of the special challenges.

Like with Deadpool in season 2, Aquaman is a character skin available for players who have a Battle Pass and complete all the special challenges. Expect new tasks every week before the DC superhero is unlocked.
Week 1 has players use a whirlpool at the Fortilla location. The Fortilla is easy to find at the southwest part of the island, and the whirlpool is simple to locate. Swim to it and let it shoot you into the air. That’s it, you’re done for this week.
For week 2, players will have to ride behind a loot shark at Sweaty Sands.
fortnite battle royale had recently faced the backlash for not being “fun” anymore. While enhancing the competitive nature of the game, Epic has somehow diminished the entertaining aspect. People love Fortnite so much simply because what we can do here, we cannot in other games. Regardless of all the recent criticisms, creators like SypherPK, LazarBeam, keep the fun aspect alive.
Recently, SypherPK took it upon him to break the all-time most kills record, which is currently held by LazarBeam. As we all know, records are meant to be broken, and this one is an excellent example of how to have fun doing it. Custom matches are perhaps the best place to do things like these.
LazarBeam had about 160 eliminations in a custom match, where he partnered with Epic to get most kills in a game. SypherPK decided to start off near The Agency and go about the business.
SypherPK breaks Fortnite all-time most kills record
“Make sure your squad is not getting all deleted,” the way this works is one member of the team reboots the fallen ones. That is how the record is higher than the number of players in a lobby. Sypher asked fortnite v bucks generator players to crouch in order to identify them before killing. If he killed off a squad by mistake, then it wouldn’t help him achieve his number’s target.
Unlike LazarBeam, Sypher did not build an entire structure to RPG the base. In that scenario, people naturally fall to their death, and sometimes those who reboot are in that queue. SypherPK finally ended up breaking the record held by LazarBeam. He got up to 193 eliminations, making it the most kills in a single game.
The entire video was quite entertaining, and frankly we did expect that at one point Sypher would be out of ammo. Nevertheless, the players taking part in the challenge had no intention of giving up. Classic challenges like this show how well connected the community is.
It also shows the number of people who play Fortnite, because it is still a fun game. All in all, Fortnite is still one of the best games out there. Challenges like these make us realize that some competitions (like record-breaking) can be entertaining.
The Fortnite Device event is threatening to reshape the entire battle royale map, and we honestly can’t think of a more fitting way to end a season based on secret agent factions battling to the death. With all the delays Epic has been announcing, and the general state of the world, it’s been tough to remember when the Fortnite Device event is happening.
So we went ahead and rounded up everything we know about the Fortnite Device event, including start time, what will happen, map changes, how the doomsday device will play into it, and more.
When is the Fortnite Device event?
After a series of delays, Epic’s latest position is that the Fortnite Device event will start on June 15.

So why was the Fortnite device event delayed so much? Well, the latest delay was a decision on Epic’s part to be respectful of the protest movements sweeping the United States and other countries focused on police brutality and the killing of George Floyd.
Here’s what Epic had to say in a statement:
Recent events are a heavy reminder of ongoing injustices in society, from the denial of basic human rights to the impact of racism both overt and subtle against people of color. We’re acutely aware of the pain our friends, families, team members, players, and communities are experiencing.
We believe in equality and justice, diversity and inclusion, and that these fundamentals are above politics.
The team is eager to move Fortnite forward, but we need to balance the Season 3 launch with time for the team to focus on themselves, their families, and their communities.
The live event The Device will be delayed to Monday, June 15, and the Season 3 launch delayed to Wednesday, June 17. We know this delay comes on the heels of another one, and we appreciate your patience and understanding during these difficult times.
Previously, the Device event and season 3 start date were delayed twice for more logistical reasons, with Epic saying they just wanted some additional time to prepare for the change of seasons. The first delay was announced in April, and the second delay happened during the final week of May.
As of now, season 2 is basically tied with the extraordinarily long first season of Fortnite Chapter 2.
What is the Fortnite Device event?
As of June 4, here’s everything we know about the Doomsday Device event.
The Doomsday Device is a massive instrument being built and operated by Midas, the character who appears to be the leader of a group of secret agents and (true to his name) can change any item in Fortnite into gold.
Here’s an image of it from data miner HypeX.
The device is located in Midas’ office, and it’s pretty massive. You can see it from the character select screen in the battle pass tab of the menu, along with all the cables extending throughout the agent hangout area.
Data miners have also discovered a loading screen that shows Midas looking intensely at some sort of suit. In the reflection of the glass, we can see the face of a woman looking at Midas. Eagle-eyed players will remember this face from the photo on Midas’ desk.
Seeing this woman’s face in the glass raises a few questions: Is she a wife? Daughter? Fellow agent? Is she alive or dead? Is this doomsday device going to let Midas exact some sort of revenge?
These are all questions that Epic isn’t answering yet, unfortunately.
Data miner VastBlast also managed to find audio that appears to be from the event, with sounds of people panicking, sirens going off, and some henchmen sounding particularly alarmed.
Other lore teases we’ve been able to discern from various data mining and updates include this mysterious cell that can now be found just outside the Shark location in the northwest corner of the map.Advertisement
The Shark was turned into a prison a couple updates ago, adding prisoner cells and a guard tower along its perimeter. This single cell exists in an entirely separate building just a few yards off the Shark’s coast. Some fans have theorized that it’s meant for Midas or some other notably powerful character, given the Shadow vs. Ghost faction wars that are ostensibly playing out underneath all the battle royale mayhem. The prison itself sports a Ghost logo on some banners.
As of early June, one Reddit user presented a theory stating that the Visitor/Scientist (the mysterious guys from season four and season x who look like Iron Man on a bad day) could play a role in the Device event.
Where is the Fortnite Device event happening?
As best as we can tell, it looks like the Agency location in the middle of the map is where the Device event will happen. It’s where we can see the mysterious underwater hatches in the river outside the building, it’s where spy boss Midas is typically located, and some previous data mining would seem to indicate it as well.
Sometime in the next few weeks, Fortnite will begin a new season, the third since its Chapter 2 overhaul debuted last October. I’ve been playing since the second season — which began way back in December 2017 — and over the years I’ve seen the game and its players change and evolve. The game shifted, the players adapted, and then the game would shift again. The metas were constantly in flux, and casual players were mostly happy. The world of competitive Fortnite had its disagreements with the developer’s adjustments, like any other competitive video game scene, but lately it seems like things have gotten untenable. Professionals like Turner “Tfue” Tenney have seemingly given up on the game after a bad run in the Fortnite Champion Series qualifiers; there were recently a flurry of posts on the game’s competitive subreddit about an issue that seemed to be ruining the experience of playing the game itself.
The culprit? Aim assist.
For the uninitiated, aim assist is exactly what it sounds like. In many shooters, especially on console, the computer actually helps you aim. In single-player games, it helps with immersion; would you really feel like a heroic super soldier if you couldn’t hit your shots? But in games that have player versus player modes, it can make the experience of playing feel unfair. (I should pause here to note that aim assist is traditionally something that’s used for people gaming on controllers — it’s hard to aim accurately with a thumbstick without loads of practice and / or talent.)
Traditionally, Fortnite has always had aim assist. The reason players in the competitive scene are upset, however, is because the game’s aim assist changed. A year ago, at the Fortnite World Cup, there were between four and six controller players who qualified in the solos and the duos tournaments, which means that around 90 percent of players were using a mouse and keyboard. “And even around that time those tournaments that were being held, very few controller players were making it to the top 100,” says Ali “SypherPK” Hassan, a professionalFortnite v bucks generator streamer who’s one of the most popular players on Twitch. “And then a year later, we now have tournaments, like the weekly cash cups or the FNCS [Fortnite Champion Series] on NA East [North America East servers] where the lobbies now have more than half of the players on controller.” According to Hassan, on the NA East servers, the majority of the top 100 FNCS qualifiers were on controller — 55 to 44 or 45 on mouse and keyboard.
And at the highest levels of Fortnite competitive play, there’s a lot of money on the line, not to mention glory. At last year’s World Cup, Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf took home the top prize in solos, which netted him $3 million in prize money and a virtual trophy in the game itself.
TheThe trouble started last September, when Epic Games addressed competitive player complaints and began sunsetting what they called legacy aim assist in favor of a new system with linear and exponential modes. In legacy, if you aimed down your sight, your crosshair would either snap onto a target or move in their direction, depending on how close you were.
“They used to constantly have to aim down sight, and then let go of the aim down sight [ADS] button, and then aim down sight again, and it would just constantly keep snapping onto the target,” says Hassan. But constantly doing that motion introduced some inaccuracy. “It also was kind of a skill set that a lot of the casual players and semi competitive players weren’t really that good at,” Hassan says. “For some people it seemed pretty easy to spam the L2 button or the ADS button. But it was kind of an art that only really a lot of the top players knew how to use properly.” Legacy was phased out permanently this March in favor of linear and exponential, which work very differently.IT’S NOT CASUAL PLAYERS WHO ARE VERY AFFECTED BY THIS
In linear and exponential aim assist, aiming down your sights doesn’t snap to targets. But if you’re on target, the assist feels stickier — linear and exponential seems to stick to what you’re aiming at, which means it’s harder to lose your targets. The difference between linear and exponential is also pretty simple: the names refer to the input curves. “So if you’re moving your analog stick on exponential, it’s initially going to move slower. And then the more you’re pushing [your] analog stick, it’s going to exponentially go faster,” says Hassan. “So it allows you to have better, more precise, minor movements, especially when you’re shooting long range. Exponential seems to be the better option when you’re shooting long range.”
“While linear has a linear input curve where it doesn’t matter if you’re barely moving the stick or you’re pushing all the way, the speed at which your process is moving is consistent,” he continues. Essentially, one is better for precision in long-range fights, and the other is better suited for short-range flicks and spraying.
I should pause here for a bit to note two things. First, the aim assist controversy is happening mostly in professional spheres — it’s not casual players who are very affected by this. Second, all of this only applies to people playing on PC because the aim assist strength appears to be tied directly to frame rates. Which is to say you’ll have much stronger aim assist playing on 240fps than you would at 30fps. And at this point in the game’s life cycle, it’s basically only PCs that can run Fortnite at more than 60 frames per second.LEGACY WAS PHASED OUT PERMANENTLY THIS MARCH
The other thing that’s worth mentioning is how the meta — the metagame, which refers to the dominant gameplay strategies players use to win — has changed, because it’s incentivized the kind of close-range combat at which linear aim assist excels. Submachine guns, which are used at close range, are very powerful now; the other thing that’s important is Epic’s removal of traps from the game, which you could stick to walls to instantly deal 150 damage to an opposing player. (Health maxes out at 200 points.) All this matters because a lot of high-level Fortnite gameplay happens at very close range, in what’s known as box fights — players build boxes around themselves and edit the shape of the walls around them to attack their opponents. At full speed, it looks beautifully chaotic.
“When you jump into another player’s box, tight combat becomes a little bit problematic because a lot of times builds are breaking around you and the camera angle can get skewed in a way where it’s hard to see your opponent,” says Hassan. If you can’t see your opponent, it’s easy to make mistakes. “But on controller, a lot of times your aim assist might compensate for the lack of visuals on your screen, whether that’s builds breaking or whatnot,” he continues. “I’ve shown footage of, you know, players tracking opponents through like explosions and debris of builds on controller, where that’s kind of impossible to a mouse and keyboard unless you’re just kind of guessing.” And because traps are gone now, there’s really no way to punish players who jump into your boxes. “The players that like to jump into boxes the most are controller players,” he says. “So the meta definitely kind of shifted back into a more controller friendly play style.”
AsAs Hassan points out, it used to be rare for someone to play with a controller on a PC — it was weird, he says, when the high-profile streamers Aydan Conrad and Nick “NickMercs” Kolcheff switched to PC back in the day. “It was kind of a controversial move,” he says. But now a lot of people have made the switch, and it shows. In the platform cash cups, which are held regularly, Hassan says there are more players in the PC lobbies playing on controllers than on mice and keyboards. “Some of the top players, like Scope for example, used to be on console — you know, five, six months ago swapped to PC, started dominating on PC.”
It has also frustrated a lot of top players, like Tenney (who hates the state of aim assist), Josef “Liquid Stretch” Liepshutz (who placed third in the FNCS week 2 qualifiers), and even some longtime controller players like Co1azo. “So there’s a lot of frustration, but then there’s also a lot of pushback from some of the controller players. “And unfortunately, the way this works usually is a lot of the people who defend controller or defend the current state of aim assist are on console,” Hassan says. “But in reality console controller aim assist really doesn’t work the same way as PC. It doesn’t have the same stickiness and tracking that PC does.”
Epic still have a few tricks left up their sleeves for the current set up, and one of them in a new set of Fortnite Storm The Agency challenges. Changes are already afoot at this central Spy Base, and these are most likely tied into the rumoured upcoming Fortnite Doomsday event, which could well be the trigger for the transition to next season. As things kick off on the island, you’ll need to swim over Fortnite Agency hatches, scan faction locked chests in Spy Bases, and eliminate Henchmen at Safe Houses, so you can unlock your reward of an appropriately stormy looking umbrella glider for your efforts.
At the time of writing we’re not sure exactly when the Fortnite Storm The Agency challenges are going to launch in the game, but with Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 3 arriving in early June there’s not a large release window left for them. As weekly challenges in Fortnite usually go live on Thursdays and there’s no sign of them on May 21, it could be that we won’t have access to them until May 28 now, leaving a week to tick them all off. Follow the prompt to scan yourself (or the Henchman you’re carrying) and open the chest, then repeat until you’ve covered three of the five available Spy Bases.
Swim over hatches at The Agency (1)
A number of hatches have appeared in the water surrounding The Agency, and you need to swim over one of them here. We’ve marked the locations of all five Fortnite Agency hatches on the screen above, though they’re reasonably easy to spot in the water when you’re nearby.
Eliminate a Henchman at different Safe Houses (3)
There are a total of five Fortnite SHADOW Safe Houses dotted around the island, and you’ll need to eliminate a Henchman at three different locations for this challenge. To find them, check out our separate guide.
update 12.60 is finally live, and, while it may be one of the last big patches for Season 2, it doesn’t do much from a gameplay perspective. Spy Games continues with the Operation Infiltration playlist, and some new weapons have been added to Party Royale. The patch notes arrive courtesy of press releases and blog posts from Epic Games.
Fortnite Update 12.60 Patch Note Highlights
Spy Games – Operation Infiltration: Extract the Intel Case from the defending team’s turf or prevent your case from reaching the invading team’s destination.
Dynamic Resolution on iOS: The opt-in feature allows you to hit a target framerate by scaling resolution. It can be turned off in Video Settings.
Party Royale Weapons: The Grappler and Jetpack arrive.

FIxed an issue where some Creative Islands would have a seam running down the middle of them when playing/building on mobile devices.
Fixed some issues where some teammate chevrons would not show up over players while in game.
Fixed an issue where players are able to spawn chest on other islands.
Fixed an issue where players can interact with a second matchmaking portals while party leader is waiting for the rest of the party to ready up.
Fixed an issue where backfilled players are spawned into the game when Join In Progress is set to Spectate.

Creative Tools + Phone
Fixed an issue where players would be unable to push or pull items closer to them when placing them via the quickbar.
Fixed an issue where free v bucks generator Player Built Structures would turn invisible when cutting them with the phone tool and quickly switching to the pickaxe.
Fixed an issue where prefabs placed with quick bar do not drop when Drops is turned on.
Fixed an issue where some prefabs and galleries are larger than indicated by the preview.
Fixed an issue where the phone tool cut button copies when double clicked.
Fixed an issue where there is no audio feedback when placing a prefab or gallery from the quickbar.
Fixed an issue where the cost preview amount is inconsistent with the actual amount of memory used in the Thermometer.
Prefabs & Galleries
Brown Cliff Snow Gallery was renamed to Gray Cliff Snow Gallery.
Fixed an issue where player clipping would occur on the Plane Wing, from the Plane Gallery.
Fixed an issue where the Lab Tunnel would show grass clipping through it.
Fixed an issue where weak points do not appear on some Monster Skull Gallery assets.
Fixed an issue where Perception Triggers would remain triggered if a player is eliminated while in sight of them.
Fixed an issue where Capture Area VFX would continue to show when the device is disabled.
Fixed an issue where players would be unable to aim the cannon horizontally while inside the cannon.
Fixed an issue where the ‘End Round when Receiving From’ receiver on the Round Settings device would not function if the message received was not sent by a player.
Fixed an issue where the Hologram would not always load the customized options chosen by the player.
Fixed an issue where the Hologram would never show its projector after first being placed. This will now always appear during edit mode and optionally during gameplay.
Fixed an issue where the Item Spawner Plate holograms do not cycle if exactly two items are inside.
Fixed an issue where Billboards would sometimes lose their text while viewed in replay mode.
This was partially related to extremely large numbers of billboards being used in some islands. To help reduce this, we’ve added drop-shadow and outline options to the billboard to avoid Creators needing to duplicate billboards to achieve the same effects.
Fixed an issue where the HUD device was displaying messages in all capital letters
Fixed an issue where the Harvester Multiplier option in the Class Designer does not override My Island settings.
Fixed an issue where the Capture Area VFX was showing even when disabled.
Fortnite update 12.60 might be the game’s last big patch of the season, and, as such, it looks like Epic has used the download as an opportunity to polish up a few lingering issues before Season 3 arrives. Operation Infiltration sounds like a fun time, though, if you like the idea of playing Capture the Flag in Fortnite. Folks in Fortnite Creative have been making CTF maps for a while now, but it’s nice to see Epic embrace the idea in an official way. The mode may not be for everyone, but at least it gives players something to do. Speaking of Creative, the addition of Props in certain Galleries is always appreciated as well.
Given that update 12.60 arrives so close to the end of the Battle Pass, we imagine there are more secrets hiding within these files that can’t be accessed yet. After all, it seems certain Epic has a new live event in the works, and, with the Season 3 aquatic theme pretty well established, we have to imagine some highly anticipated map-flooding hijinks are in order. Until that day comes, however, you’ll have to be satisfied with this lame duck of a 12.60 update.

Fortnite is throwing a Party Royale Premiere on Friday. The popular battle royale game invited players to another in-game concert, this time featuring performances from Dillon Francis, Steve Aoki and deadmau5. The event will also feature some “party favors” and interactive attractions.
Along with the invite, developer Epic Games on Wednesday revealed that Fortnite now has more than 350 million registered players, adding roughly 100 million players since March 2019. In April, players spent more than 3.2 billion hours in Fortnite, Epic said.
The Friday concert comes on the heels of Fortnite’s Astronomical experience last month, during which rapper Travis Scott debuted new music in the game. More than 12 million players participated in that April 23 concert, Epic said. Epic also held a Party Royale concert earlier this month that featured music by Diplo.
In addition to live sets from Dillon Francis, Steve Aoki and deadmau5, Epic free v bucks generator said the event will feature things like aerial obstacle courses at Skydive Rift, boat races at Fishsticks’ Boat Race and new items up for grabs at The Plaza. One thing that isn’t part of Party Royale mode, which Epic says is an experimental and evolving space, is the usual combat.
“There are no weapons or mats in Party Royale — it’s all about just hanging out and having fun. No Sweat. All Chill,” Epic said in a blog post Wednesday.
The concert starts at 6 p.m. PT/9 p.m. ET on Friday, with an encore on Saturday at 11 a.m. PT/2 p.m. ET. Players who log in to Fortnite between May 8 at 6 p.m. ET and May 11 at 10 a.m. ET can spice up their concert outfit by claiming a free, music reactive Neon Wings Back Bling.
